Why This Resource Exists
Plano Residents Directory is a private reference service for people trying to understand where public and historical records are kept. Plano records do not sit in one office. The City of Plano, Collin County Clerk, Collin County Central Appraisal District, county court clerks, elections office, Texas agencies, libraries, and archives each hold different material. We organize those routes so a reader can begin with the right custodian.
What the Directory Points To
The directory links to official property, deed, court, voter, vital-record, licensing, library, and archive resources where research supports them. It also identifies practical alternatives when a live portal is incomplete or unavailable, including the McKinney Clerk route, written requests, public terminals, the Haggard Genealogy Center, CCGS, UNT, and the Texas State Library. Sources can change, so confirm key information with the office that holds the record.
What We Cannot Provide
We are not a government office, records custodian, law firm, or investigative service. We cannot obtain a certified copy, decide a legal dispute, verify that a person lives at an address, correct a government record, or remove a name from an official roll. Requests for those actions belong with the responsible custodian.
- We cannot certify or alter a government record.
- We cannot disclose a protected address or private household information.
- We cannot determine the legal effect of a deed, court filing, or vital record.
- We cannot replace a direct request to the City of Plano, Collin County, or Texas custodian.
